The On Point Facts Team

Roger Beck: President

I grew up on a dairy farm in the Town of Dryden and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering degree. After serving two years in the Navy Seabees, I started Beck Construction, a company doing excavation and grading work. During the following decades, this company changed its operations and is now Beck Equipment, located in Preble, NY. Beck Equipment rents, sells and services construction machinery and employs twenty people.

After serving in Vietnam, while in the Seabees, I became increasingly aware of government’s many efforts to mislead people and the tremendous cost in lives and treasure these actions have brought about. Over the years, I’ve worked to get information to the public about a wide variety of issues. To continue these efforts, I’ve started the nonprofit On Point Facts.

I live in Ithaca and have two children and two grandchildren. I enjoy hiking and travel. I’m on the board of Sustainable Tompkins and am a member of the Ithaca Sunrise Rotary.

Joshua Adams: Board Member

Joshua Adams is a communications director and consensus builder at Cornell University, as well as an independent business process consultant. His other current and past professions include retail owner, restaurant manager, publisher, and real estate broker. In addition to his work in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors, Joshua actively participates in community service as a four-term president of his local Kiwanis club and past lieutenant governor for the Chemung Division of Kiwanis International. Joshua lives in Ithaca with his husband, Jon.

Gunilla Feigenbaum: Board Member

Gunilla has spent her life dedicated to the arts. Swedish by birth, education and temperament, she has enjoyed a multitude of creative careers. She was one of the pioneering video artist in the 1970’s when her works where shown and collected by a number of museums and broadcast on PBS. She has written 11 plays, all of which were produced. She has worked as a journalist, illustrator, designer and advertisement copywriter.

The last decades have been devoted to painting and to obsessively observing politics with a blend of hope and agony.

Amy Simrell: Secretary

I was born in Ithaca and attended Ithaca High School and Cornell University, earning an undergraduate degree in Sociology/Psychology, and graduate work in Program Planning and Policy Analysis. For a number of years, I worked in various Ithaca non-profits, adjunct teaching at TC3, and raising children. In 1996 I was hired as the Executive Director of the YWCA in Cortland.

YWCA’s are women’s organizations with the dual mission of providing critical services to women, children, and families, as well as advocating for social change, particularly in the areas of empowerment of women and elimination of racism. I retired in 2014, and am still active at the YWCA. I also serve on several Cortland based boards and committees, including On Point Facts.
